Dr. Adrian Verburg was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1956 and attended Chatham Christian Grade School.

As the son of a banker, Dr. Verburg was relocated to numerous communities in South West Ontario, completing his high school in Mount Forest, Ontario in 1975.  Subsequently he attended the University of Western Ontario and graduated with honours from medical school in 1981.  Upon internship completion at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Dr. Verburg began his Family Medicine career in Tilbury, Ontario in 1982.  He would then initiate his Family Practice at the current location on Grand Avenue, West in Chatham.

During this time in Chatham he has held the position of Chief of Emergency Medicine at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham as well as the Chief of Family Medicine.

Dr. Verburg is an active member at the 1st Christian Reformed Church and leads the Cadet Boys Club as Head Counsellor.

For many years Dr. Verburg has played hockey starting with minor hockey and continues to play in the Church Hockey League for the Oldtimers.  He has also achieved his Level 3 Trainers Certification and has been involved as a trainer with his son’s Minor Hockey Travel teams from 1988 to 2003. As Team Physician for the Chatham Jr. Maroons for almost 20 years, Dr. Verburg has thoroughly enjoyed his involvement as the Team Physician especially during the many championship accomplishments of the Maroon’s organization, including the Sutherland Cup team of 1998-1999.

Dr, Adrian Verburg has been married to his wife Joan for 28 years and is the father of 3 children, daughter Kristen, who recently was married, and sons Kyle and Kevin.
