Roy Padbury Return to All Inductees
Roy was born March 20, 1946 and passed away on January 7, 1996. During his time in Chatham Roy was an active member and supporter of many different organizations. In 1993 he earned the Canadian Confederation Commemorative Medal for his untiring community involvement in groups such as Festival of Nations, United Way, Thames Campus Arena & Sports Complex, Bicentennial Committee, Moose Lodge and the Kent Club.
Roy was always a participant in athletics with the Maple City Milers, Maple City Slo-Pitch and the Chatham Senior Baseball Club. In the mid 1960’s he joined the Maroons and worked as their stats person for 16 years. After a brief time away he rejoined the Maroons as their general manager for two years. His hockey involvement extended outside the Chatham Jr. Maroons when he worked with the Blenheim Blades, Tilbury Jr. Hawks and the Chatham Senior Maroons.
Roy worked for the city of Chatham for 23 years and is remembered fondly by his daughter, Andrea Thompson, son Scott and his three granddaughters, Paige, Reece and Abby.
