Junior Maroon Hockey is one of her true loves of life.  Helen’s passion for the game and her genuine care for the young men who played it, inspired her to spend countless hours heading up the booster club in the late 1960s and early 1970s, assisting in the front office, greeting fans as they entered the arena and boarding players at her home.   Helen’s energy was always quite visible at both home and away games.

People today continue to talk of the great hospitality shown each time Helen would host one of those great team gatherings at her home on Indian Creek Road.

When she organized the Maroon Booster Club it was for the promotion of the Chatham hockey but she also wanted the players to know that the people of the city knew and cared for them just as if they were still in their own home towns.  Her commitment continued at another level when she and Chuck Carson bought the Maroons in 1971 - 72.  That year highlighted her organizational skills as the Maroons fought back against the Detroit Jr. Red Wings to force a 7th game at the old Olympia stadium.  Helen went into high gear and organized 24 bus loads of fans plus hundreds of others that drove to Detroit to support their local stars.

Her genuine caring for people and willingness to step up for the cause will forever be remembered and appreciated.
